Adults with Type 1 Diabetes on Insulin
"I cannot say enough about Integrated Diabetes! Because most of their staff has diabetes, they have an out-of-the-box approach and fun ways to handle problems. I cannot tell you how much easier they have made "living with diabetes".
- Ann Bartlett, Alexandria, VA
"The CDEs at Integrated Diabetes ask the right questions. Their suggestions go beyond the usual "are you counting carbs right" or "are you taking your insulin". They were specific and effective. Most importantly, they made me feel that they care. I was a bit concerned about the phone format at first, but their phone manner, personality and organization make it quite easy."
- Charlotte Neustadter, Brooklyn, NY
"I just had my first phone consultation, and came out of the session believing that tighter control is possible. They focused on my areas of difficulty and immediately provided useful instruction. This is the kind of education I've been looking for. I haven't been this motivated in a long time!" - Hirsch Meisels, Spring Valley, NY
"Intensive Care" for Adults with Type 1 Diabetes
These days, it seems that healthcare systems and the general public focus plenty of attention on the type-2 diabetes epidemic and all the little kids with diabetes. What about the multitudes of adults who have type-1? Well, you've found the place that is dedicated to you.
Integrated Diabetes Services is owned and operated by adults with type 1 diabetes, so we "get it" when it comes to diabetes care. Unlike most hospital-based programs, our services don't stop at providing basic education. We teach you the "tricks of the trade" that make living with diabetes and managing blood sugars easier than ever. We also have the experience and expertise to help you fine-tune your insulin doses, whether you're an experienced pump user or simply taking injections. We take pride in being technologically-savvy (almost as much as teenagers!), so we can offer insight on the latest products and devices, and make use of communication tools that allow consultations to be held from your home, office, or wherever you choose.
What's more, our team of diabetes educators has passion for helping other adults with diabetes. We know that diabetes doesn't take breaks or vacations, so we make ourselves available to you above-and-beyond the usual call of duty. Need help preparing for a surgical procedure? We'll guide you. Having lows during a new type of workout? We'll offer specific adjustments. Not sure which pump to choose? We'll direct you to the most helpful information. In virtually all cases, we respond to your questions and concerns within hours, not days or weeks.
Since 1995, Integrated Diabetes Services has helped thousands of adults with type 1 diabetes to do the following:
- Tighten A1c levels
- Prevent/minimize hypoglycemia
- Fine-tune insulin doses (including pump settings)
- Transition to pump therapy
- Optimize use of continuous glucose monitoring
- Avoid serious long-term complications
- Manage blood sugar during sports/exercise
- Improve carb-counting proficiency
- Lose unwanted weight
- Minimize after-meal blood sugar spikes
- Deal effectively with challenges to daily control
- Educate partners and caregivers
- ... and much more!
Adults with Type 1 Diabetes Service Process
All consultations are available in-person or remotely via phone and the internet (including video conferencing). Prior to your initial consultation, we'll send you a self-care assessment packet to complete and return to us. That way, we won't waste your valuable time with questions and topics that are of no interest to you. The assessment will be reviewed by your personal diabetes coach who will begin formulating a teaching/management plan in preparation for your scheduled consultation.
During the initial consultation, we will discuss your personal goals, review your current diabetes management plan and offer suggestions for improving your control. We will formulate a system for keeping and communicating records, provide essential education, and outline a plan for helping you achieve your long-term goals.
After the initial consultation, follow-up options include individual consultations scheduled at your convenience, or a retainer service that includes monthly scheduled consultations and unlimited access to our team (to review records, answer questions and make necessary adjustments).
Please call our office for information regarding service fees, to ask any questions or schedule an appointment. We can't wait to work with you!
